EOTC Week

 Good Morning  readers, 

On Wednesday it was our last day of EOTC week ( Education outside the classroom).  On the first day of  EOTC week we went to Adrenalin Forest  and Spencer Park . We had to listen to the instructor so  we know what to do with the harness and we got taught how to  . On Friday we went to Mega Air and we did top team competition. On Monday we did roller skating in Selwyn Sports Center. We got taught how roller skate and it first i was a bit scared that I was going to fall but when i got told to take to take little steps like your walking normal  On Tuesday we did a Amazing race starting at the Botanic Gardens and it was amazing. I didn't care about winning all I care about it have fun with your team. In my team we had, Casper,Rableen, Elijah,Oakley, and Riley and we went different way to find the way to Margaret Mahy playground.  On Wednesday we went to Sumner for surfing  we got taught how to stand on it and my team .

Persuasive Writing Jamboard

 Kia ora readers,

In writing we are learning to persuade other  peoples ideas (change others opinions.) We created a hamburger planner so we could copy the work onto a Jamboard. On our Jamboard we had to write our statement at the top then have 3 reasons, and underneath that we had 2 more backup reasons for our reasons. After we were done all that we had to put it all together and make a conclusion. I also added a background that relates to the statement. Dog Safety

I think…  Summer is the best season

Because… You get to spend time with your family in the beach and have fun.

My evidence:But on some days of January, February, the water temperature warms up to 20°C and above. The average water temperature in Christchurch in winter reaches 10°C, in spring 12°C, in summer the average temperature rises to 17°C, and in autumn it is 15°C.

I think…Strawberries are not the best fruit 

Because…  They can be hard and sometimes soft

My evidence:Any berry will taste blander in wet seasons or if the grower waters too much. The extra water dilutes the sugars in the fruit. And a third factor is sunlight. Berries grown in full sun do better and taste sweeter than those in part shade.

I think… Cats do not make the best pet

Because... You can not take them on a walk or run to the rivers but with the dog you can. 

My evidence:  Benefits include improved cardiovascular fitness, lower blood pressure, stronger muscles and bones (built up by walking regularly), and decreased stress. A regular walk is vitally important for your pet's health too.

I liked learning about swimming and I achieved  my goal of going to the big swimming pool.

My favourite thing to learn is the arm-stroke, bubble arm and breathing arm, and the frog swimming thing.

I think… dogs are better than cats

Because… Dogs can be trained to save you and you can have some fun with your dog.

My evidence:  Dogs get to be house-trained, and most will stick to their schedule. They’ll wait to do their business during a walk or in the yard. Source link

I think… 12 years old's shouldn’t get their license 

Because… They are too young to drive and they might get into an accident and their parents might  be paying for their cars. 

My evidence: . Auto accidents are the leading cause of death for teens ages 15 to 20. Obviously 12 years olds shouldn't get their license. Source link

I think… Lollies should not be allowed at school

Because…if you eat too much lollies you might get diabetes.

My evidence: it’s true that soda and candy are high in sugar and calories, but there isn’t any evidence that directly causes diabetes. Source Link

Term 4 Swimming (Day one )

Today we went to Canterbury Swim School.  I did bubble and breathing and the skill that  I skill I practiced was the wiggly worm, over arm,. I was in a small group and their name was Nijesh, Marleigh, Yanit, and Casper. what I like about swimming is that we get to do the wiggly worm.

My goal is to go to the big pool.

How To Cross The Road Safety

W.A.L.T… use prior knowledge and knowledge gained from texts to learn about road safety
Today I am going to show you what me and my group have been learning about this week. I have learnt  that we have to cross when the green man is green. I have done a poster to show you how to be safe on the road. This poster is about road safety. If you are a young boy or girl just make sure you are with an adult before crossing. Something I did well is using some bright colours for my poster.
Something I could improve on is including information about riding your bike safely.

This morning I am going to you my Te Ngahere slideshow. What we have been doing for topic is our Te Ngahere. In our classroom we are now Piwakawaka. We have been learning about the layers of the forest and different New Zealand Native birds . We also have done a classroom name that relates to the New Zealand forest layers and have learnt Whakatauki. We have also learnt about the importance of the forest. Today we have just done our 321 work. We have learnt many different thing on our slide.  Hello Readers,

Today I am gonna be showing you my Tree House Descriptive Writing. what we had to do is look at two pictures witch is a picture of a spaceship and a tree house. We had to pick what picture we want to write about. I choose the tree house because I had a lot of descriptive word to describe the tree house. Then we had to open up this document that Whaea Miki witch is our beautiful teacher has shared with us in room 9 site. 

Here is my writing.

One morning I was walking back from the shop  and I ended up in the forest.

I have long curly brown hair I am pretty, tall. I have brown eyes and I am chatty and

I  could smell the  animal poop as I was walking there. There was a very old tree house I went inside and dirty and

then i went back down to see if i have signal and there no signal .

Then I went back to walking and I could feel the fallen leaves as I was wandering. 

I could smell rotten  flesh as I was walking, I could hear birds chirping.

I  stopped because I was thirsty.  I got some water out of my school bag.

As I walked I could hear the crunching leaves. I could see lots  of beautiful flowers.

As I was skipping  I could see a lot of people walking through the forest.

I went to the ladder and climbed back up to the tree house and

sat down and grabbed out my school bag. It was getting dark and

I got my flashlight out of my back pack  and it was out of battery

. I didn’t  have a  light to  light up the tree house.

I fell asleep in the tree house. I woke up and climbed down and have a stretch.

After I stretched I went for a walk. I came back and ate something.

After I ate I went to the toilet.

After that I played some games on my own. I went back up to the tree

house because it was cold.

I stayed at the tree house and I stayed up there. It was getting dark.

I fell a sleep and I said to myself,” I think i am staying in the forest

because it so quite and so many animals.

Almost swallowed by a whale

 Dear Readers,

We have been learning how to write a recount. As year 6's we need to say who, why, what, where, when and how. We need to write in first person(I) and past tense. We have been focusing on using dialogue, emotions and vocabulary.

We watched a YouTube  video about a diver being almost swallowed and listened to his interview. You can watch the video here.

Here is the interview that I wrote, imagining I was the diver and telling my recount of this experience.

Interviewer: Where were you taking photos of before you got swallowed by the whale?

 

Me: I was taking photos of sardines in the ocean because there was a sardine run and it looked amazing. There were some shark in the was big and was eating sardine. Then suddenly the whale came up then grabbed me. I knew that it was a whale from the pressure.

Interviewer:  So you had this incredible experience and are lucky to be alive. Tell what 

Happened?

Me: The first thing I realised was that something grabbed me. I just knew it was a whale because of the size and the pressure. It was super inside the whales mouth. I couldn’t breath. My snorkel was on my mouth and I was afraid that the whale will dive down the I will be drowning. I held my breath because then I will have a bit of oxygen.

Interviewer: Before the whale grabbed you, did you see the whale coming towards you?

Me: No I did not see the whale coming towards me because the whale was at the Opposite side of me it came up and grabbed me.

Interviewer: What did it feel like when you were inside the whale?

Me: I  felt scared when i was in the whales mouth.

Interviewer: How did you not panic?

Me: I calmed my self up not to panic if I panic the more the whale will swallow me.

Thank you to my beautiful teacher for helping me. Mrs Thorp is my favourite teacher. She is the most beautiful teacher.

I was walking in a dark street. I noticed that there was a car outside the diary. Then I saw two mens. One was wearing a brown mask. The other man was wearing a pink hoodie and his lips looks like a thousands of bees sting them. And he pulled the string tight to his head  because he doesn’t have any mask. Then I saw them getting out the car and walking towards the door then the man without a mask ran and hit his head in the door because he was trying to open the door with his head. Then i saw them going inside. Then I walked forward too see what was  happening. So i saw them putting the bag on the counter so the owner was confused.Then he jumped up onto the shelf but slipped and hits his head on the counter. He fell on the floor and passed out. The taller man was ready to fire. He was shaking and he was scared to shoot the owner because he hasn’t shoot anyone. So he tried to shoot but he ran out of bullets. So I called the police and they said “They will be there.”So I waited and waited then I saw the police. So they got arrested. Then I walked home.
